In a significant diplomatic development, Qatar and Egypt have reaffirmed their dedication to bolstering bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in crucial areas such as economic investment, labor, and other key sectors. This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The meeting took place in Cairo on the sidelines of the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.

The discussions highlighted the robust growth in economic relations between the two nations, marked by an impressive 80 percent increase in trade in 2025. Both officials expressed enthusiasm over the expanding Qatari investments in Egypt, with a notable focus on a sustainable aviation fuel production project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This project is seen as a pivotal step in enhancing economic cooperation between the countries.

Beyond economic ties, the dialogue extended to labor and consular cooperation, with both sides sharing insights on regional developments. A mutual commitment to reducing tensions and supporting regional stability was evident, as the officials underscored the need for continued coordination on Gaza and reiterated their support for diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts.

The emphasis on maritime security was another key topic, with both nations recognizing the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. This focus aims to protect international trade routes and contribute to regional stability, reflecting the strategic significance of these waterways.
