Qatar and Saudi Arabia are set to deepen their economic and trade ties through enhanced cooperation under the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council. Senior officials from both nations have been actively reviewing ongoing initiatives and exploring new measures to boost bilateral trade and support private-sector businesses.
Trade between Qatar and Saudi Arabia reached approximately $1.98 billion in 2025, marking a significant 36 percent increase from the previous year. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, bilateral trade grew by around 18 percent, surpassing the countries’ target of 15 percent. Qatari exports to Saudi Arabia totaled over $1.42 billion, with more than 977 Saudi companies currently operating within Qatar.
Discussions between the two countries focused on facilitating import and export procedures, aiding small and medium-sized enterprises, enhancing supply-chain integration, and expanding financial cooperation. Addressing existing trade barriers to ease operations for companies in both markets was also a key topic of discussion.
In preparation for launching a Joint Economic and Trade Strategy, officials reviewed plans aimed at setting priorities, initiatives, and measurable targets for the next phase of bilateral economic cooperation. This strategy is expected to further align the economic interests of both nations and foster greater industrial integration.
The emphasis on completing agreed initiatives and tackling outstanding trade challenges was reiterated by both countries, highlighting their commitment to promoting robust economic and industrial collaboration.
