Spanish Ambassador to Qatar, HE Alvaro Renedo Zalba, has hailed the relationship between Spain and Qatar as stronger than ever, highlighting deepening economic and political cooperation between the two nations. Speaking at a gala reception in Doha, he emphasized that the partnership now stands at an unprecedented level, driven by mutual respect and strategic dialogue.
Ambassador Zalba expressed gratitude to Qatar’s leadership and people for their hospitality, noting that Spanish companies are increasingly expanding their footprint in Doha. These firms, he said, contribute valuable expertise in energy, technology, infrastructure, and services—key areas supporting Qatar’s development goals.
Politically, he highlighted high-level engagements, including the Spanish Prime Minister’s visit to Doha and the meeting between the Emir of Qatar and the King of Spain in Seville. These, he said, have cemented a solid foundation for long-term collaboration.
Addressing regional affairs, Zalba welcomed the Gaza ceasefire and commended Qatar’s mediation efforts alongside other nations. He reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to promoting peace through a two-state solution and advancing a rules-based international order.
Reflecting on Spain’s global legacy, the ambassador drew parallels between Spain’s historical role as a bridge between continents and Qatar’s modern role as a hub of global diplomacy and cooperation. He concluded by stressing that in today’s challenging geopolitical climate, diplomacy must be guided by vision, persistence, and strategy to sustain peace.
