The Cabinet of Qatar, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, commended His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for his speech at the opening of the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD) 2025 in Doha.

During its regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan, the Cabinet lauded the Amir’s emphasis on Qatar’s commitment to social development, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and social protection. Ministers highlighted that his address reflected the global call for dignity, equality, and justice, while denouncing the ongoing suffering in Palestine and Sudan. They further noted that the Amir’s election as Chair of the WSSD underscored Qatar’s growing international leadership and its strategic partnership with the United Nations.

The Cabinet also praised the adoption of the Doha Political Declaration, which reaffirmed the three pillars of social development—poverty eradication, full and productive employment, and social inclusion—as a roadmap for sustainable progress.

In domestic policy, the Cabinet approved a draft law amending provisions of Law No. (6) of 2014 regulating real estate development, aimed at strengthening urban planning and sustainability. The new framework assigns executive responsibilities for project subdivisions to the Ministry of Municipality, while the Real Estate Regulatory Authority retains oversight on approvals.

The ministers also endorsed a decision adopting the Gulf Technical Regulation for Electric Vehicles as a Qatari standard to promote environmental sustainability, safety, and carbon reduction. Additionally, several memoranda of understanding were approved, covering cooperation with Guatemala, the Asian Development Bank, Saudi Arabia, Greece, and Uzbekistan in areas such as diplomacy, tourism, agriculture, and media.

The meeting reinforced Qatar’s ongoing integration of domestic reform with global development initiatives, reflecting its continued role as a leader in social progress and international cooperation.
