Power of Siberia 2 Sealed as Kim Rolls Into Beijing for Victory Day

 Putin and Xi agreed to build the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline, a multi-decade energy lifeline moving up to 50bn cubic meters of gas annually to China via Mongolia. The deal reinforces Moscow’s pivot to Asian markets.
The announcement came as Kim Jong-un arrived in Beijing with daughter Kim Ju-ae ahead of a parade showcasing Chinese military power. A Putin–Kim meeting was anticipated by Moscow officials.
Leaders from several non-Western states gathered, reflecting what observers say is a bloc challenged by sanctions and rivalry with the US-led order.
Putin met Slovakia’s Robert Fico, spotlighting divisions within Europe over Ukraine and energy. Putin said Russia never opposed Ukraine’s EU path, while reiterating NATO is a separate issue and claiming no intention to attack Europe.
Xi used the SCO summit to propose a “global governance initiative,” adding to Beijing’s suite of frameworks. China also extended visa-free travel to Russian citizens starting 15 September and signed over 20 bilateral deals with Moscow.
